Artists and art lovers aged 10-18 are invited to join our school open day, of subsidised workshops, exhibition and discussion with practicing artists!
This open day is suited for ages 10 - 18 years, Entry for the entire programme of events is only $10 per ticket, and bookings are essential
Students should bring a drink bottle, lunch and dress for mess!
Programme
10 am - 12:20 pm - Drawing Workshops
Workshop 1 - Inverlochy Fundamentals of Drawing tutor, Ross Payne, will offer a crash course on the structure of human faces, and how to construct them through drawing.
In Workshop 2, students will join winner of the 2023 Parkin Drawing Prize, Connah Podmore, to create simple, evocative charcoal drawings taking inspiration from found photographs.
Each workshops is one hour in duration. All materials are provided.
12:30 - 12:50 - Inverlochy Studios Tour
Visit resident Inverlochy Art School artists in their studios! Meet the artists and check out what they are working on.
1 - 2 pm - Artist Talk & Lunch
Join practicing artists Ruby WIlkinson, Thorn Richards and Connah Podmore for a relaxed conversation on the subject of working as an artist over shared lunch!
Find out about these artists stories and practices - how they got to where they are, what has helped along the way and what they enjoy about working as an artist.
Caregivers are also welcome to attend, with coffee, tea and some kai provided.
This open day is being held in celebration of our Pōneke High School Student's Showcase exhibition, and has been made possible by the support of the Wellington City Council Arts and Culture Fund.
