Young Artists' Showcase

Young Artists' Showcase is an exhibition of four high school artists working across photography, drawing and sculpture.

Featuring work by Logan Lewis, Neev Panchal, Evie Patterson & Suji Son, who were selected from a pool of applicants following our high school student exhibition open call advertisement in early 2024.

This exhibition proudly showcases and celebrates emerging talent in Pōneke and is supported by the Wellington City Council Arts and Culture Fund.

Logan Lewis is a year 13 student at Wellington College with a keen interest in filmmaking and photography. His work places a large emphasis on imagery that have an eeriness to them, "establishing an atmosphere that feels like something out of an old noir film but has a dream-like quality to it". Logan regularly makes use of an intense shutter speed technique, and his work is greatly inspired by filmmakers such as Sin City (Robert Rogdrigues) and Wong kar Wai films.

Neev Panchal's drawings showcase his passion for portraiture and hyperrealism. His three drawings in this exhibition track his journey in art; from his first animal subject to his personal favourite Refreshment that took 16 hours to complete. Each drawing represents a part of his journey in art, and he hopes they evoke something special in his viewers. Only aged 14, he is excited to continue growing and exploring with his art.

Evie Patterson is a year 12 student at Wellington High School working in both printmaking and sculpture. Her sculptures are made with found materials and relate to themes of being exhausted by exploring mess.

Suji Son is a year 12 student who came to New Zealand from Korea in 2023. Working primarily in the field of drawing and film photography; Suji loves Korean values and traditional art and is happy to have the chance to introduce these to New Zealand audiences.
